Afghanistan's foreign minister has met with Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda ahead of a two-day international meeting on Afghan reconstruction that opens today (Tuesday) in Tokyo.
During his meeting Monday with Afghan Foreign Minister Dadfar Spanta in the Japanese capital, Mr. Fukuda pledged to continue support for Afghanistan's reconstruction and security.
Japan provides funds for Afghanistan's rebuilding efforts and last month resumed a naval refueling mission in support of U.S.-led coalition efforts.
Combating narcotics and improving security are expected to be major topics at the conference.
